It’s Time for a Read a Romance Novel Month Promotion
Did you know that August is National Water Quality Month and Read a Romance Novel Month?
You may be wondering, “What does that have to do with my business?” The answer is, more than you realize. Awareness weeks and months can be leveraged to promote your business. While almost all companies do promotions for holidays like Christmas and Easter, other times of the year can be optimal for promoting your goods and services. How about a Back-to-School promotion in August or a Learn to Ski and Snowboard promotion in January.
Think about what awareness days, weeks or months relate to your business, your goods or your services. The websites Days of the Year (https://www.daysoftheyear.com) and National Today (https://nationaltoday.com/) list awareness dates, weeks and months. Choose what best suits your business and utilize it to promote your business.
What if other business will use that same week or month? That’s where a little research comes in. While everyone knows that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that Halloween occurs in that month, most people don’t know that it is also Pasta Month, Medical Librarians Month and Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, just to name a few. (By the way, June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month.) If you don’t want to be one of the million businesses with Halloween promotions or Breast Cancer Awareness promotions, go to the sites to look up another awareness week or month for your business. For example, if you own a water purification business, you could mention that August is National Pasta Month and water purification customers say that foods like pasta that are cooked in water, taste better when the water is purified. Be creative and find a way to tie your business to an awareness date(s).
You can also be a little contrarian with these awareness dates. October is also National Dessert Month. While one would think a bakery or supermarket would utilize this month for promotions, a wellness coach or physical trainer could use this month to share blog posts about portion control, post recipes of healthy desserts on social media, or offer discounts for their services (i.e., “Ate too many desserts during National Dessert Month? 10 percent off our services for the month of October.”)
Awareness weeks and months are huge source of promotion ideas. With a little research, not to mention creativity, you can find one that fits your business.
